Jordan Miles passed for three touchdowns as the Colonels made head coach Ricky Gehres a winner in his first game on the Christian County sideline.
The Colonels never trailed in turning back Caldwell County 24-3 Friday night in Princeton.
Miles completed 17 of 27 pass attempts for 181 yards with just one interception.
His 14-yard touchdown toss to Jercolvin Holmes got the scoring started at the 7:47 mark of the first quarter in the season opener. John Settles added the extra point to make it 7-0.
After a Caldwell fumble, Settles extended the margin to 10-0 with a 27-yard field goal. That came with 4:20 still left in the opening frame.
Caldwell began to move the ball better on the ground in the second quarter. A 23-yard field goal from Blake Vivrette got the Tigers on the scoreboard with 9:43 left in the first half, making it 10-3.
But with Caldwell seemingly gaining the momentum, Christian struck just before halftime to head into the break with a two-touchdown cushion.
This time, Miles hooked up with Kevarius Vaughn for a 29-yard scoring connection. That came with 2:45 left in the second quarter and staked the Colonels to a 17-3 lead.
The only score in the second half came with 5:21 left in the contest. Christian salted away the win with a 10-yard scoring pass from Miles to JaSean Riley pushing the final difference to 24-3.
Riley caught six passes for 60 yards to lead the Christian receiving corps.
Anthony Harvey ran for 57 yards for the Colonels while Miles ran for 54.
