It was a tough trip to Owensboro Saturday for the Christian County Lady Colonels’ soccer team. The Lady Colonels made the drive northward to take on the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces, who entered the match at 4-1 with their only loss coming to Evansville Mater Dei.
The Lady Aces looked every bit the part of a regional contender as they blitzed the Lady Colonels 11-1.
Christian County could find no answer for the Lady Aces’ Maddie Hayden. Hayden had a monster day, finishing with five goals and three assists. Ashton Logsdon added three goals for O-Cath. Ella Claire Goetz chipped in with two assists.
Autumn Bell had the only goal for the Christian County Lady Colonels. Note, the goal was the first one given up by Owensboro Catholic to a Kentucky team this season. The Lady Aces had previously blanked Marshall County, Murray, Daviess County, and Apollo.
The loss drops Christian County to 1-2-2 on the year. The Lady Colonels are set to return to action Monday night when they host Logan County.
