Led by a 9-over-par 81 by senior Addison Whalen, the Dawson Springs Panthers captured team honors on Saturday at the 2nd Region All A Classic golf tournament hosted by Princeton Golf Club.
The Panthers finished with a team score of 367 to defeat runner-up Caldwell County by 10 strokes.
University Heights was next with a team score of 400 while Crittenden County placed fourth at 401 and Lyon County fifth with a 434.
After Whalen, Dawson’s other four golfers all carded rounds in the 90s on Saturday. Jake Back shot 91, Gage Smiley 97, Grayson Brewer 98 and Kolby Crook 99.
Whalen placed second individually, just four shots behind medalist Collin Whittington of Caldwell County.
Dawson also had one girl qualify for state. Maddie Huddleston shot a 100, which was the second lowest score not on the championship team.
The girls’ state All A Classic is scheduled for Sept. 11 at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond.
The boys’ state All A Classic golf tournament is set for Sept. 12 at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.
