
Allison Wood was able to navigate the muddy course Saturday and pick up the first invitational win of her cross country career as the Hopkinsville senior won the Fenton Dawson Invitational at Trigg County.
Wood led wire-to-wire and covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 20:58, which was nearly two minutes ahead of second-place Gabby Ault of St. Mary.
Wood was one of three Hoptown runners to finish in the top five. Allison’s younger sister Rebecca Wood was fourth in 23:53, and Lauren Mayes was fifth in 24:05.
Hailey Cordero was 44th in 35:11, and Emily Bridges was 46th in 35:59.
Hoptown was able to snag a third-place finish with 67 points, which was three points behind second-place Trigg County. Apollo captured the team title with 59 points.
