You don’t normally see a playoff determine the winner of a weekday tri-match, but it’s been anything but normal on the golf course the past two years.
Landon Hunt and Evan Pyle each shot a 38 Monday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club to tie for the top spot in the three-team match. They both decided to head to the first hole to determine a winner with Hunt winning the hole.
However, it was Pyle and UHA that put together the low score of 183 to win the match. Luke Shouse shot a 40 for UHA followed by Aaron Onate’s 50, Brady Hightower’s 55, and Wade Foster’s 56.
Hunt and the Colonels finished second, six shots in back of the Blazers. Houston George shot a 40, Drew Finchem a 53, and Tay Martinez a 55. Eddie Davis shot a 58, and Talan Ezell added a 66 for the Colonels.
Will Binkley led Hopkinsville with a 39, good for third place. Joey Falco shot a 41, and Thomas Grice had a 57. Hoptown didn’t have the four golfers needed to post a team score.
