The Todd County Central girls’ soccer team slipped to 0-3 overall with a 2-0 loss to visiting 13th-District rival Logan County on Tuesday, but it was no easy ride for a Lady Cougar team now riding a four-game winning streak.

Logan County came in averaging over five goals per game but found things difficult against a Lady Rebel defensive unit that had only allowed a single goal in each of the first two matches.

The senior-laden Lady Cougars got on the board inside the opening three minutes on a goal by Kadyn Costello and it looked like it might be a long night for Todd Central.  But the Lady Rebel defense, led by goalkeeper Sam Case, tightened up and the match remained 1-0 at the halftime break.

As the second half wore on the game opened up with both teams getting chances, including a shot off the crossbar by Costello with twenty-five minutes left.  The Lady Rebels peppered the Logan County goal, forcing goalkeeper Brady Alsup into five saves, but the Lady Cougars put the game on ice with a goal by Elizabeth Phelps with less than two minutes to play.

Case kept Todd Central in the game with eleven saves, just short of her average of thirteen per contest.

Logan County earned its third shutout win of the season a night after topping Christian County 5-3 at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.

The Lady Rebels will be back on their home field on Thursday when Hopkinsville pays a visit.
