Trigg County was unable to sustain a quick start and dropped a three-set volleyball match to Murray Tuesday at Wildcat Gym.

The Lady Tigers came from behind to win the first set 25-21 and then finished off the Lady Wildcats 25-9 and 25-11.

The first set featured seven ties as Trigg built a 20-16 lead. Murray battled back to tie the match at 21 and finished the set with a 9-1 run as Trigg’s serve receive game abandoned them.

Murray used another quick start in the third set, grabbing a 6-1 lead early. Trigg scored three straight points – two by Abigail Johnson – to get to within 6-4. Murray used an 8-3 run to put the match away.

Trigg’s serve percentage was solid at 86-percent but it resulted in just six aces.

Megan Hicks had two aces and two kills for Trigg County, and Keagan Greenwood, Grace White and Savannah Garnett each had a pair of kills.
