
Rose Smith scored four goals and Anna White added three as Lyon County’s girls routed 5th District foe Crittenden County 9-2 Monday in Eddyville.
The Lady Lyons scored three goals in a 3-minute stretch in the first half while improving to 5-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the district.
Lyon never trailed and outshot Crittenden by a 35-12 margin.
White scored her first goal about 10 minutes into the game off a corner kick from Leah Schroeder to put Lyon up 1-0.
Less than a minute later, Smith netted her first tally, knocking home a rebound after Schroeder’s initial shot by stopped.
Avery White then scored off an assist from Alice Smith to push the margin to 3-0.
Crittenden (1-5, 0-1) tried to get back in it when Taylor Guess scored with help from Bailey Williams. That came in the 18th minute and made it a 3-1 game.
The Lady Rockets still trailed by just two goals at halftime, but Lyon seized full control of the contest over the first 10 minutes of the second half.
First, Rose Smith netted her second goal in the 45th minute, gathering in a loose ball in the box and scoring to make it 4-1.
White’s second goal came just 30 seconds later, with Alice Smith again picking up an assist.
White struck again in the 50th minute, scoring an unassisted tally to stretch the margin to 6-1.
Guess scored her second goal for Crittenden in the 53rd minute, sending a shot off the far post and into the net to make it 6-2.
But Lyon scored the final three goals of the night to put the game away.
Rose Smith tallied her third goal after Lyon was awarded an indirect kick in the box. Alice Smith gave a quick pass to Rose Smith to make it 7-2.
Rose Smith added an unassisted score to put Lyon up 8-2.
Alice Smith then scored following a corner kick from Rose Smith to push the lead to 9-2.
Maddie Russell made 10 saves in the Lyon net.
The Lady Lyons return to action on Thursday when they host Mayfield.
