Lynn Bowden just seems cursed in the NFL. Before his professional career barely got started, he was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Miami Dolphins where he had 28 catches for 211 yards and nine carries for 32 yards in 10 games, including four starts, his rookie season.
The former third-round draft pick suffered a hamstring injury in practice last week and Tuesday the Dolphins put him on injured reserve as part of their roster cutdown. Bowden will not be able to play this season unless the Dolphins release him and he signs with another team. For that to happen, the team would have to reach an injury settlement and give him his full release.
Due to COVID, the NFL is allowing teams this year to return an unlimited number of players from IR list after missing three games but this exception is only for players who make the 53-man roster and Bowden did not.
Bowden posted this message on Twitter after he was cut: “I’ll be back better than EVER.”
That solicited this response from UK associate coach Vince Marrow, the man who recruited Bowden to play at Kentucky: “You will come back stronger used this time for a big comeback in 22. I will be praying for you.”
