
The Lyon County Lady Lyons jumped on visiting Mayfield early on Thursday, taking a lead inside the first ten minutes and finishing things in the opening moments of the second half of a 10-0 victory.
The Lady Lyons earn their fourth-straight win and post six goals or more for the sixth time to improve to 6-1-1 overall.
Anna White got things started for Lyon County with a goal in the ninth minute and Alice Smith doubled the advantage just two minutes later.
White added her second on an assist by Alice before Rose Smith found the back of the net for the first of five to give her 25 goals on the year.
Rose added the next two just five minutes apart and Alice capped the first-half onslaught with a strike four minutes ahead of the halftime break.
Lyon County wasted no time in the second half, with Rose needing less than a minute to add the eighth goal on an assist by Olivia Adams. Rose had the ball in the net again just 90 seconds later and Alice closed the show with a powerful finish from a tight angle.
Maddie Russell made six saves to earn the Lady Lyons’ second shutout of the season.
Michelle Caro was under fire all night in the Mayfield goal, making nine saves in the Lady Cardinals’ sixth loss in seven outings.
Lyon County head to Trigg County on Tuesday looking to move to 2-0 in 5th-District play.
