The Caldwell County Tiger soccer team scored two goals in the final 6 minutes to earn a 5-5 draw with Graves County Thursday night at Butler Stadium in Princeton.
Caldwell’s Grayden Miller netted the tying goal with just 1 minute to play following a throw in from Blake Vivrette.
Vivrette had two goals to go with the assist. Miller had two assists to go with his goal.
Caldwell (2-3-1) got off to a great start in the contest with goals in the 11th and 12th minutes.
Vivrette scored with help from Miller for the first tally. Miller assisted again on a goal by Nick Adams to put Caldwell up 2-0.
But the visiting Eagles (3-4-1) battled back to tie things 2-2 at halftime.
Conner Thomas scored on a rebound following a free kick from just outside the box in the 26th minute.
John Pardo followed with a long blast in the 31st minute to make it a 2-2 game.
Caldwell went back in front 10 minutes into the second half. After Miller was taken down from behind in the box, Vivrette knocked home the penalty kick to put the Tigers up 3-2.
But again Graves responded, netting the game’s next three goals.
Luis Romero scored on a long shot over the keeper in the 58th minute to make it 3-3.
Just a minute later, Eddie Romero scored on a laser from the corner of the box to put the Eagles up 4-3.
Pardo netted his second goal in the 64th minute as Graves built some breathing room at 5-3.
Caldwell made things interesting in the 74th minute when a long rebound came out to Ethan Weatherspoon, who blasted a shot into the net to trim the margin to 5-4.
The Tigers tied the game again when Miller eluded two defenders and beat Graves goalkeeper Darren Morris to Vivrette’s long throw in in the box. Miller punched home the shot into the left side of the net to knot the score for the third time at 5-5.
That’s how the game ended.
Caldwell returns to action on Monday with a trip to Calloway County.
