The Heritage Christian Lady Warriors did what a heavily favored team is supposed to do when they hit the court. In a match against first-year program Maranatha Baptist Academy, the Lady Warriors came out very business-like and got their work done, cruising past the Lady Patriots in straight sets Saturday morning.
One of the biggest cheers of the morning came as Maranatha Baptist scored the first point of the match. With the first set even at 2-2, the Lady Warriors scored the next 19 points to go up 21-2. They would go on to take the set 25-3. Bailey Craft served up three straight aces to close out the opening set.
Like the opening set, Maranatha scored the first point of the second set. Heritage Christian scored the next five points to take a 5-1 lead. With HCA leading 17-5 in the second, the Lady Warriors scored the final eight points of the set to take a 25-5 win and go up 2-0 in the match. Of the final eight points, five were on service aces from Lexie Crisp.
The third set we will just call the Mya Goodwin set. Goodwin served all 25 points in the set as the Lady Warriors closed out the match with a 25-0 win over the Lady Patriots. Of the 25 points, twenty were service aces from Goodwin.
For the match, Goodwin had a total of 23 service aces. Cora Hale added nine aces and three kills. Lexie Crisp finished the day with five aces and three kills.
