Lyon County dropped a pair of soccer matches Saturday at the Russellville Panther Classic with a late goal by Barren County deciding the first contest.

Deven Guess got the Lyons on the scoreboard in the opener against the Trojans with the goal standing up for the first 40 minutes.  Barren County [4-4-1] scored a quick goal off the foot of Aden Nyekan in the second half to tie the match. Nyekan would add the game-winner with three minutes left.

Nyekan has scored 13 goals in nine matches for the Trojans.

In the second game, Lyon County lost to the event host Russellville 11-3.

The Panthers [3-2-1] jumped ahead 4-1 in the first half, with Lyon County’s first goal coming from Timothy Stewart off an assist from Walker Suitor.

Two minutes into the second half, the match was delayed 30 minutes due to lightning in the area.  After the delay, it was Russellville that struck as fast as the lightning with seven goals in the second half.

Lyon County will take its 1-9 record into Monday’s district match at Trigg County.
