Northwest Runs Past Lady Colonels in Straight Sets

A tough early start to the volleyball season continued Monday night for the Christian County Lady Colonels. The Clarksville Northwest Lady Vikings used a big run in each set to complete a sweep of the Lady Colonels Monday night.

The opening set saw the Lady Vikings take the early control of the match with a 25-12 win. With Northwest leading 7-3, the Lady Vikings ripped off eight straight points to pull out to a 15-3 lead. From there they cruised on out to take the 13 point win.

The second set saw the Lady Colonels battle the Lady Vikings in a tight beginning to the set. Holding a 12-10 lead midway through the set, Northwest then put the pedal down to pull away. The Lady Vikings scored seven straight points to go up 19-10. They would go on to take the set 25-13 to go up two sets to none.

The Lady Vikings then effectively settled the issue early on in the third set. Leading 3-2, Northwest scored the next 14 point to seize a commanding 17-2 lead. The Lady Vikings would go on to take the set 25-9 and close out the match three sets to none.

A big effort for the Lady Colonels from Chantelle Haby. She finished the night with eight assists. NaVaeh Day, Camryn Armstrong, and Hailey Sparks had two kills each. Day added three blocks to her totals for the night.

The loss drops the Lady Colonels to 0-3 on the season. They are set to return to action Thursday evening when they host Webster County.
