Coach Mike Smith was left to rue a recurring problem for the Todd County Central boys’ soccer team on Wednesday night, as the Rebels failed to convert a handful of good chances in a 1-0 loss to the streaking Franklin-Simpson Wildcats.
Franklin-Simpson wins its sixth straight to improve to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in 13th-District play. After drawing their last two matches coming in, the Rebels slip to 0-5-2 with a trip to Owensboro Catholic coming up on Saturday.
Todd Central was punished for miscommunication in the 18-yard box midway through the first half, with the Wildcats poking in the lone goal of the match.
Goalkeeper Jonah Rager made fifteen saves to keep the Rebels close, but despite some good looks, they couldn’t find the equalizer. The game marks only the second time this season Franklin-Simpson was held to less than three goals.
