The Christian County Lady Colonels put up a battle, but ultimately fell to the Webster County Lady Trojans Thursday night in Colonel Gym. Webster County took the win in straight sets 25-17, 25-20, and 25-20.
The opening set saw the Lady Colonels battle the Lady Trojans through the early part of the set before Webster County pulled away late for the eight-point win to go up 1-0.
The second set played out much like the first. Webster County again would get enough done late in the set to pick up a five-point win and go up two sets to none.
The final set saw the Lady Trojans get out to an early lead. This time it was the Lady Colonels battling back late but they could not quite get over the hump as Webster County took another five-point win to close out the set and the match.
Hailey Sparks led the Lady Colonels with 5 kills. Rylee Owens had 5 aces, 1 kill, and 1 assist. Nevaeh Day was solid at the net with 3 kills and 2 blocks. Quenasia Henry finished with 3 kills, 1 block, and 1 ace. And, Chantelle Haby added 11 assists and 1 ace.
Webster County had a big performance from Maggie Jones, who had 13 kills and 9 digs. Kylie Hardison added 29 assists for the Lady Trojans.
Christian County drops to 0-3 on the season. The Lady Colonels are set to take part in the wReck at the Plex this weekend.
