The Christian County Lady Colonels wrapped up their weekend at the wReck at the Plex by snagging their first win of the season. The Lady Colonels finished their weekend going 1-4 at the tournament.
In pool play Friday evening, the Lady Colonels opened the tournament with a pair of tough three-set losses. The first loss came to Madisonville-North Hopkins. The Lady Colonels gave the Lady Maroons a run, but came up just short in losing two sets to one.
The second match of the evening found Christian County matched up against Todd County Central. Much like the first match against Madisonville, the Lady Colonels pushed the Lady Rebels, but fell just short, losing two sets to one.
Saturday began with Christian County taking on Marshall County, and it must have felt a bit like a case of deja vu for the Lady Colonels. A solid effort came up just a little short as Christian County fell in three sets.
After pool play, the Lady Colonels squared off against Heritage Christian in the first regular-season matchup between the two programs in the 7th place game. HCA rolled through the first set 25-14. Christian County returned the favor in the second set 25-9. HCA won a hard-fought third set 15-13 to close out the match.
The Lady Colonels played in both the 7th place game and the 9th place game due to Crittenden County pulling out of the tournament. In the 9th place match, the Lady Colonels won in a straight-set sweep for their first win of the season, winning the sets 25-14 and 25-18.
