Today’s CatWalk will be a return to normalcy for Kentucky football, something the team didn’t have last season due to COVID — and may not have all this season if current protocols change. Fans may not be quite as close to the players this morning for the CatWalk as they were in 2019, but Penn State transfer Will Levis doesn’t care. He can’t wait to experience the UK love a few hours before he makes his first Kentucky start at quarterback.

“I am really excited for it. I am going to soak it in and cherish the moment,” Levis said. “I just cannot get too excited and let the nerves get to me because I know I have to get down to business after that.”

Levis said he had “conversations” with offensive coordinator Liam Coen about the game plan because everyone wants to be comfortable with what the offense does today.

“There is always room for open conversation with anybody on the offense,” Levis said.

He recalled once when receiver Wan’Dale Robinson made a suggestion about a pass route and Coen agreed the suggestion was better than his original call.

“He’s obviously going to say if he wants it done a certain way but he is definitely very open (to suggestions),” Levis said.

Levis knows there’s pressure on him to lead a more diversified offense. He says feeling some pressure is normal and not all bad.

“This is a big opportunity and something I have been waiting for a long time,” Levis said. “I have prepared my butt off to be ready and now I have to trust my instincts. We want to have a good balance throwing the ball and running.”

He understands fans would like to see him throw for 400 yards per game and says it would be “awesome” to do that but not to count on it.

“Kentucky been very successful in recent years and frankly not having an efficient passing offense,” he said. “Once we show that is part of the program, the sky’s the limit. I trust in coach Coen and there will be good offensive games both running and passing the ball.”
