His performances on the field and on the court are outstanding in their own right. In the KCAA 2021 baseball championship game, Heritage Christian Academy’s Weston Powell had three hits and drove in five runs in helping lead the Warriors to the state championship. Back in 2020, Weston was named to the KCAA All-State Tournament basketball team. But Weston Powell is far more than just an outstanding athlete at Heritage Christian.
Powell is an outstanding young man, both in and out of the classroom.
Weston appears to be on the track of being a future leader in business. He attended the Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs. Weston spent three weeks at Northern Kentucky University with other entrepreneur-minded teenagers. While there, the students created apps, products, and inventions to help solve problems in society.
The work for Weston and his fellow students did not end when those three weeks were over. Weston and his team are still developing an app that could decrease food waste both commercial and residential. Now that is something that we can call get behind and benefit from.
Weston appears to be one who likes to be involved in numerous activities and causes. He is involved with the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, BETA club, KYA, KUNA, and the Key Club.
Faith also plays an important role in Weston’s life. He currently plays lead guitar for the praise band at Heritage Christian Academy and at his church at Evening Light Tabernacle in Elton.
Weston also is taking his faith on the road, as he has traveled on mission trips to Native American reservations in Oklahoma and to Jamaica.
And, in his free time, which it is hard to see him having much of, there is flying. Weston says he started to get passionate about flying when he was 15, so he started taking flying lessons. On April 15, 2020, which was Weston’s 16th birthday, he completed my first solo flight. And his plans in the air don’t end there.
Weston adds that he plans to complete the private pilot’s license requirements by the end of this year, and he plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University for their aviation program to pursue a degree as a professional pilot.
Up in the air, or firmly planted down on the ground, HCA’s Weston Powell is truly an example of what the Chick-fil-A “Triple A” is all about.
