Wan’Dale Robinson impressed fans with his play but fans impressed him at Cat Walk

Wan’Dale Robinson broke a lot of hearts at the Kentucky football program when he de-committed from UK and went to Nebraska for two years before transferring back to play for the home-state Wildcats this season.

He had an amazing debut with five catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns. But the former Western Hills star was thrilled way before the game started.

“Today when I came into the Cat Walk, I just looked around and was like, ‘Wow I’m here.’ Everyone is just expecting whatever is going to come and so I just wanted to go out there and perform and take it all in,” Robinson said after the win.

“Once the ball was kicked off, all those nerves started to go away and at the end of the day, it’s just football. Really the same thing we’ve been doing since I was 5 years old. So I just wanted to go out there and perform.”

My belief was that Robinson was not overly impressed with what he did on the field because he’s always done that. He’s a playmaker, a scorer.  He expects success.

Robinson admitted he was not surprised by how well the offense performed.

“We wanted to make some things happen. We knew that Will (Levis) was going to get the ball to us, so we just had to make plays and that’s what we went out and did,” Robinson said.

Now he was excited to score his first Kroger Field touchdown — but it will not be the last game he has one or more touchdowns this season.

“I’ve grown up coming to these games as a recruit and even as a young kid just envisioning myself scoring touchdowns here. For it to finally happen during my first game in the stadium, it was great,” Robinson said.

  1. This young man will be another legend to wear the blue and white before he is through. He is already well on his way.
