Another match and another big performance from the Lady Warriors. It was another solid win for Heritage Christian Academy Thursday night, as they took a 3-1 win over the South Haven Lady Patriots.
In the opening set, the Lady Warriors pulled away a little bit at a time as they took a 25-14 win over the Lady Patriots.
The second set saw a late rally come up just short for the Lady Patriots. HCA opened the set with the first seven points. Trailing 23-15, South Haven made a run at the Lady Warriors with six straight to cut the margin to 23-21. But that was as close as they would get as Heritage scored the next two points to take the set 25-21 and go up two sets to none.
Just as it appeared South Haven would be a quick victim of the Lady Warriors, the Lady Patriots said “not so fast.” HCA took a quick 6-1 lead in the third set only to see South Haven to score the final 8 points of the set to take a 25-21 win and stay alive in the match at two sets to one.
However, any hopes of a furious Lady Patriot rally were quickly dashed by the Lady Warriors in the fourth set. With South Haven leading 4-2, HCA scored the next 8 points of the match to take a commanding 10-4 lead. The Lady Warriors then kept the pedal down as they rolled on to take the set 25-8 and close out the match three sets to one.
Elle Heltsley had seven kills and Lexie Crisp and Tori Sutton each had five kills. Bella Peach added 11 digs; Bailey Craft had 10 assists and three digs; and Mya Goodwin had 10 digs, three assists, and two kills.
Heritage Christian improves to 14-2 and is set to hit the road Monday evening to take on Webster County.
