Hopkinsville’s girls struck early while evening their all-time soccer series with Caldwell County.
A goal in the 5th minute and another in the 26th minute were all the Hoptown Lady Tigers would need to turn back Caldwell 2-0 Thursday night at Butler Stadium in Princeton.
In 43 meetings all-time, each side now owns 21 wins while there was one tie.
Hopkinsville (4-4) dictated play for most of the first half, outshooting Caldwell 6-1 in the first 40 minutes.
Allison Wood found the net just 5 minutes in, taking a short feed through the defense from Ana Hernandez and burying a shot from in front of the net.
Hopkinsville’s second goal came when Jada Ashberry ran on to a pass from Abby Moss on the right side and fired in a shot that eluded Caldwell goalkeeper Rachel McClung.
The second half was played on more even footing, with each team recording three shots.
But neither team could find the net in the final 40 minutes as Hoptown picked up the win.
Vy Nguyen made four stops in the Hopkinsville net to pick up her first shutout of the season.
McClung made five saves for Caldwell, which is now 3-6.
Hopkinsville next faces crosstown rival Christian County on Tuesday.
Caldwell returns to action on Monday with a visit to 7th District foe Hopkins County Central.
