It was a tough Saturday for the University Heights Academy Blazers at the annual Boots and Butts Classic at the Stadium of Champions. The Blazers were matched up against a pair of quality Central Kentucky squads.
UHA began the day against the West Jessamine Colts. The Colts, who reached the 12th Region title match last season, clamped the defense down on the Blazers and rolled to a 6-0 win.
The Blazers closed out Saturday taking on the Elizabethtown Panthers. The Panthers and their high-powered offense came out firing right out of the gate. E-town scored six goals in the first 20 minutes of the match and had another negated by a late offside call, as they roared out to an 8-1 halftime lead.
UHA’s goal came off the foot of Griffin McCoy at the 39-minute mark.
The Panthers then closed out the match by score three more goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to come away with the 11-1 win.
UHA is set to return to action Monday evening at the Stadium when they take on the Hopkinsville Tigers.
Elizabethtown advances to Sunday morning’s semifinals at the Stadium of Champions.
