The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm picked up their first win of the season against someone other than Union County Monday evening. The Lady Storm traveled to Hopkinsville and out-battled the Lady Tigers to pick up a four-set win.

Central entered the match with three wins on the season, all had been straight-set sweeps over the Union County Bravetttes.

The opening set was a back and forth battle until late in the set. With Hopkinsville leading 20-19, the Lady Storm scored the final six points of the set to take a 25-20 win and a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set was almost a carbon copy of the first, going back and forth. However, the strong finish this time was on the side of the Lady Tigers. Trailing 24-23, Hoptown scored the next three points to take the set 26-24 and even the match at one set each.

The third set, well you can guess by now. Close early, and this time the strong finish went to Hopkins Central as they took the set 25-20 and took a 2-1 lead in the match.

Hopkins Central then used a nine-point run about midway through the fourth set to take control of the set. The Lady Storm would then close out the match with a 25-15 win.

Hoptown got solid play from Aloria Moyd and Allison Luttrull.

Hopkins Central’s 1-2 punch at the net, Haylee Gunther and Lillie Whitaker-Greer gave the Lady Tigers issues all night long.

The Lady Tigers are set to return to action Thursday night when they travel to Owensboro to take on Apollo.
