Trigg County honored its five volleyball seniors prior to Tuesday’s match with St. Mary at Wildcat Gym, but the celebration was short-lived as the Lady Vikings recorded a 25-6, 25-11, 25-12 win.
Trigg County had trouble with its serve-receive game as St. Mary recorded 13 aces in the first set. It was tied at one and three before a 7-0 St. Mary run decided it. Trigg never got closer than five points the rest of the set.
The same woes plagued Trigg in the second and third sets as they couldn’t piece together a run of four or more points to try and dig out of the deficits they faced.
Savannah Garnett, Jhade Vaughn, and Ashlynn Koch each had two kills for Trigg County. Skye Williamson had three of Trigg’s seven aces. Abigail Johnson had four digs, and Megan Hicks had four assists and two digs.
Trigg County drops to 2-14 and will host Crittenden County Thursday.
