Logan County Survives Tough Four-Set Battle with Todd Central

The Logan County Lady Cougars volleyball team may notice something red coming up fast in their rear view mirror. The Todd County Central Lady Rebels pushed the Lady Cougars hard Tuesday night before falling three sets to one in a 13th District volleyball showdown in Russellville.

The Lady Rebels win in the third set was the first set win for Todd County Central in the series since August 19, 2002.

Todd Central came battling right out of the gate. The Lady Rebels kept right with the Lady Cougars, with Logan County finally pulling out a 25-22 win to go up 1-0 in the match.

Logan County controlled the second set and appeared to have all the momentum going their way as they won the set 25-13 to go up two sets to none.

Just as it appeared Logan County was about to pull off another sweep, the Lady Rebels came out swinging in the third set. Todd Central would go on to take the set 25-20 to cut the Lady Cougar lead to two sets to one.

The momentum for the Lady Rebels carried over into the fourth set. It just needed to carry over a little bit more. Todd Central extended the Lady Cougars and nearly won another set, but Logan found a way to hold on, winning the set 27-25 to close out the match.

Lucy Chester finished the night with nine kills for the Lady Rebels. Lanie Bivins had six kills and three service aces. Addileigh Drummond continues to be outstanding setting the tables for the Lady Rebels, ending the night with 17 assists. She also had three service aces. Lynnlee Jones stepped up with four kills in the match.

The loss ended a five-match winning streak for Todd County Central. The Lady Rebels are scheduled to return to the court next Tuesday when they host Franklin Simpson.
