Other than an opening-night loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins, the Todd County Central boys’ soccer team hadn’t fallen by more than two goals in any game this season.  However, difficulties in front of the net left the Rebels at 0-7-2 coming into Tuesday night’s trip to Logan County.

With 10 goals in the last two games, a 7-5 loss to Russellville and Tuesday’s 5-2 victory over Logan County, the Rebels appear to be finding their offensive footing for the regular season’s stretch run.

Todd Central’s Angel Villanueva got an early start on a big night when he found the back of the net inside the first four minutes with a header off a corner kick by Chris Salazar.

Cam Wheelock doubled the advantage in the 10th minute when he took a through ball from Tanner Henderson and scored from just inside the 18-yard box.

However, the Cougars battled back with a pair of goals in two minutes to knot the match at 2-2 at the halftime break.

The Rebels took charge in the second half, clamping down defensively to shut out the Cougars and letting Villanueva do the rest.  He scored his second goal of the contest on an assist from Zack Robinson, before providing Sam Padgett with a pass to stretch the lead to 4-0.

Villanueva finished off his hat trick late in the game when he cleaned up a loose ball in the Logan County box.

The Rebels return to their home field on Thursday when Fort Campbell makes the trip to Elkton.
