Caldwell County survived a wild 35-33 second set and went on to defeat Crittenden County 3-0 in volleyball action Tuesday night at the CAB gym in Princeton.
The Lady Tigers (10-5) took the first set 25-17 before the teams battled back-and-forth in the second set. Each side had chances to finish off the win before Caldwell was finally able to take a 2-0 lead in the contest.
The Lady Rockets (5-3) had trouble bouncing back after the marathon set, with Caldwell taking the final set 25-13.
Lily Hoard had nine kills and four digs to help lead a balanced effort for the Lady Tigers.
Savannah Scott had six kills, two blocks and a dig while Katie Menser had six kills, a block, two digs and two aces.
Kynady Thomas added six kills. Brylee Butts recorded four kills and a block.
Adison Sullenger had a game-high 34 set assists to go with a block, nine digs and four aces.
Claire Knoth had a team-high 13 digs to go with three aces while Mary Tays had 12 digs, two kills and an ace.
Maggy Griggs recorded two kills, nine digs and an ace. Annabelle Rushing had two digs while Kyndra Winters had two aces.
Caldwell is now 31-2 all-time against Crittenden.
