Weston Phelps scored a pair of goals as Caldwell County blanked Hopkins County Central Tuesday night in the Tigers’ first match in over two weeks.

All of the scoring came in the second half as Caldwell claimed a 3-0 triumph over its 7th District foe.

After the teams battled through a scoreless first half, Phelps found the net just 7 minutes into the second half.

Deacon Carter picked up an assist after playing the ball ahead to Phelps, who got around a defender in the box and buried a shot to give the Tigers the lead.

Phelps also scored Caldwell’s second goal, this time with help from Chase Lantrip.

Ethan Weatherspoon scored the final goal on a solo run to make it 3-0.

Blake Vivrette picked up the shutout in the Tiger net in his first-ever start at goalkeeper on the varsity level.

Caldwell is now 3-6-1 overall and 1-1 in the district while the Storm is 3-9 and 0-2.
