Princeton native Emma Talley is tied for 15th place after one round of the LPGA’s Cambia Portland Classic at Oregon Golf Club.
Talley had one bogey and two birdies — all on the front nine — while carding a 1-under-par 71 in first-round action on Thursday.
Talley hit 11 of 14 fairways but just nine of 18 greens in regulation. However, she needed just 25 putts and was 3-for-3 in sand saves on the day.
Talley is just three shots back after three players carded 4-under 68s on Thursday — Carlota Ciganda, Pajaree Anannarukarn and Gemma Dryburgh.
Six players are tied for fourth at 3-under.
Talley will tee off in the second round at 12:44 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday — 2:44 p.m. Central Daylight Time.
