A tough 2nd Region loss for the Christian County Lady Colonels Thursday night. The Lady Colonels saw an early lead get away from them as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm at the Stadium of Champions.

Hopkins Central found the net first in the contest when Priya Holmes scored to put the Lady Storm up 1-0.

It did not take the Lady Colonels long to respond. Christian County evened things up when a cross from Autumn Bell was scored by Megan Lacy to tie the game at 1-1.

For the rest of the half, the two teams went back and forth, with neither able to find the net again in the opening forty minutes.

Hopkins Central then scored three straight goals in the second half to take a 4-1 lead.

Christian County’s Cayleigh Clay found the net late in the match to cut the margin to 4-2, which is how the night would come to an end.

The loss drops the Lady Colonels to 1-7-2 on the year. They are set to return to action next Thursday when they go down to post to take on Fort Campbell.

Hopkins Central improves to 7-6. The Lady Storm will host Mayfield Saturday morning.
