Warren East Sneaks By Christian County 2-1

The Christian County Colonels went on the road Thursday night and came within a “whisper” of picking up their first win of the season. Two second-half goal for Warren East turned out to be the difference as the Raiders picked up a 2-1 win on their home turf.

The match was just the second in the month of September for the Colonels, who entered protocol after their August 25 match against University Heights.

The two teams went toe-to-toe in the opening half Thursday evening. Neither team was able to get a shot into the net as the half ended in a 0-0 tie.

The Colonels’ goal in the second half came when Bryan Linares scored a header on an assist off the foot of Alex Hale. Christian County would finish the night with five shots on goal.

A solid night in goal for Christian County keeper Josh Settle, who ended the contest with 18 saves.

Christian County returns to action Saturday afternoon as they go across town for their first-ever regular-season matchup against Heritage Christian Academy at 1 pm.
