The Caldwell County Lady Tigers finished up their appearance in the 2021 All “A” Classic state volleyball tournament with a loss in the semifinals of the consolation bracket of the tournament. The Lady Tigers finished out with a 2-0 loss to Owensboro Catholic.
After a 1-1 start in pool play on Friday, the Lady Tigers began Saturday morning needing a win over Sayre to advance to the championship bracket. Sayre ended up taking the 2-0 win and relegating the Lady Tigers to the consolation bracket. Sayre won the match 25-21 and 25-8.
In the match against Sayre, the Lady Tigers were held in check at the net, with no player coming up with more than one kill. Savannah Scott had four assists to lead the effort for Caldwell County.
In the quarterfinal match of the consolation bracket, Caldwell County simply overwhelmed Williamsburg 2-0. The Lady Tigers won the sets 25-8 and 25-6.
Lilly Hoard led Caldwell County with four kills. Kyndra Winters had four service aces. Adison Sullenger ended up with seven assists in the match.
The semifinals of the consolation bracket saw Caldwell County matched up with the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces. The Lady Tigers battled in the first set before falling 25-18. Catholic then closed out the match with a 25-14 win to complete the two-set sweep.
Savannah Scott had four kills for the Lady Tigers. Kynady Thomas, Katie Menser, and Ellie Ramey added three. Adison Sullenger finished the match with 16 assists.
Caldwell County finished their All “A” trip with two wins and three losses.
