Marshall County Ties for 7th Place at All-State Championships

The Marshall County boys’ golf team tied for seventh place over the weekend at the 2021 Kentucky Golf Coaches Association All-State Championship in Lexington.

Trey Wall led the Marshals with a score of 4-under for the two rounds. Wall had a share of the clubhouse lead after day one with a round of 66. He ended up tied for fifth place.

Camdyn McLeod tied for 53rd at 13-over par. Ryan Stokes was 63rd at 16-over followed by David Jack Morris in 82nd at 25-over, and Hayden Powell in 83rd at 26-over.

The KGCA All-State Championship features the top 15 teams and top 21 individuals not on those teams. Qualifying is based on All-State points accumulated during the regular season for that year.

As a team, Marshall County tied with South Oldham at 47-over. St. Mary notched a 10th place finish at 57-over.

Rocco Zakutney led the St. Mary golfers with a second-place finish. He torched the University Club of Kentucky courses to finish at 7-under par for the two rounds. Zakutney was four shots behind the winner, Luke Coyle of Taylor County.

Both Madison Central and St. Xavier had aggregate scores under par to claim the top two places. Madison Central won a -3, which was two shots better than St. X.
