The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers saw their two-match winning streak on the volleyball court come to an end Tuesday evening. The Lady Blazers battled hard but fell in three tough sets to the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons.
The opening set saw the Lady Maroons get out to a quick 7-1 lead. From that point, Madisonville was able to keep the Lady Blazers at arm’s length for the remainder of the set to take a 25-21 win and a one set to none lead in the match.
UHA again went toe-to-toe with the Lady Maroons in the second set. Like the first, neither team was able to distance themselves from the other until the very end. Holding a 21-20 lead, Madisonville-North Hopkins was able to score the final four points of the set to win 25-20 and take a two-sets to none lead.
The third set, like the previous two, was tightly contested from beginning to end. The Lady Maroons led most of the way through the set, but could never quite put UHA away. Leading 22-20, Madisonville scored the next three points to win the set 25-20 and complete the straight-set sweep.
The Lady Blazers are back in action Thursday night when they host Webster County for Senior Night.
