Coming into Thursday night’s home match against Trigg County, the University Heights Academy Blazers had dropped two straight and only scored two goals over that two-match span. Thursday night, the Blazer offense found its stride as UHA rolled to an 8-0 win over the Wildcats at Givens field.

The Blazers got on the board at the 18:00 mark, scoring off a corner kick where they had multiple header attempts before the ball found the net. The lead grew to 2-0 at 27:20 when Homecoming King Connor Dill scored.

Senior Mason Price scored on the rebound of a missed shot at 33:00 to push the Blazer lead on out to 3-0. Griffin McCoy scored his fourth goal of the season in the final minute of the half to give UHA a 4-0 lead going into the break.

The shot differential told a big story in the first half, as the Blazers outshot Trigg County 17 to 1.

UHA continued to pull away, scoring four more goals in the second half, while keeping the clamps down on the Trigg offense. One of the “big” moments for the Blazers and their fans in the second half was when goalie Will Maxwell scored on a penalty kick. Maxwell lost a big chunk of his high school career to injuries on both of his knees.

Connor Dill finished the match with three goals to pace the UHA attack. In addition to his goal on the penalty kick, Will Maxwell had seven saves.

UHA now improves to 9-8 on the year. Trigg County drops to 2-8-1.
