
The Christian County Colonels dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Colonel Showcase at the Stadium of Champions. The Colonels were blanked by St. Mary 5-0 and then fell to Graves County in the second match by a score of 5-1.
The opening match saw the Vikings take control early and never look back as they picked up the win. St. Mary led the match 3-0 at the half and then closed it out with two more goals in the second 40 minutes.
The Vikings were led by Edward Oneill with two goals. Jacob Rainey, Jack Roof, and Aidan Hrdlicka had one goal each.
In the second match of the day, two goals in the final moments of the first half broke a 1-1 tie and helped carry the Graves County Eagles to the 5-1 win over the Colonels.
Chris Monroy put the Eagles on the board at the 18:00.
Christian County tied the match at 1-1 when Bryan Linares drilled a direct kick from the left side at 34:10.
Alexis Velasquez snuck one in the front right corner of the net at the 39:00 to put Graves County up 2-1. The Eagles struck again in stoppage time to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
Graves County would add goals at 62:00 and 74:20 to wrap up the scoring for the match.
Christian County drops to 0-16-1 with the two losses. The Colonels are set to take on Hopkinsville Tuesday evening at the Stadium.
