HCA Takes Down Christian County in Four Sets

Heritage Christian Academy picked up its second win over Christian County in just over a week Monday. The first came 10 days ago when the soccer team beat the Colonels 3-1. The second came Monday when the Lady Warriors picked up a four-set win over Christian County.

The Lady Warriors won 25-13, 25-9, 18-25, 25-20 at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.  It was their second win over Christian County this season and their seventh win in ten games against KHSAA opponents this season.

HCA opened strong, taking the first two sets. With Macy Lake serving, HCA ran off seven straight points to take a 16-7 lead in the opening set. She had three of HCA’s aces in the opening frame.

In the second set, HCA ripped off 11 straight points to take an 18-4 lead.  The Lady Warriors went on for the 25-9 win.

Christian County found its footing in the third set with a strong net game. The Lady Colonels let wire to wire, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. They extended it to 14-5.  HCA got as close as six points before the Lady Colonels closed out the set.

HCA fell behind again in the fourth set as the Lady Colonels jumped out to a 4-1 lead. Down 11-5, the Lady Warriors ran off five straight to get to within 11-10.  Up 13-12, HCA scored five straight points. Christian County got to within three points but no closer as the Lady Warriors ended on a 4-2 run.

Elle Heltsley led the Lady Warrior net game with 16 kills and four blocks. Lexie Crisp added eight kills and 22 digs, and Tori Sutton had six kills and 13 digs for HCA.

Mya Goodwin had another strong match for HCA with 16 assists and 11 digs.  Bailey Craft had 18 assists and four aces, and Bella Peach led with 24 digs.

For Christian County, Hailey Sparks had nine kills, 14 digs, and four aces. Ne’Veah Day added six kills and four blocks, and Camryn Armstrong had five kills and two blocks. Chantelle Haby had 25 assists, and Rylee Owens contributed 23 digs.

Christian County drops to 4-15 and will travel to Crittenden County Tuesday.

Heritage Christian Academy improves to 20-4. They will host Clarksville Christian Thursday.
