
After seeing a ten-game unbeaten run come to an end at the hands of Madisonville-North Hopkins last time out, the Lyon County girls’ soccer team throttled a familiar foe on Monday night to get back on track.
The Lady Lyons overwhelmed hosts Mayfield 10-0 for the second time this season, improving to 12-2-2 ahead of a trip to Crittenden County on Tuesday. Lyon County has already clinched the top seed in the 5th-District tournament.
Leah Schroeder enjoyed a big night with five goals and an assist, taking her season scoring tally to 21. Rose Smith took her team-high goal haul to 41 with a hat trick, giving her eight goals against the Lady Cardinals this season.
Alice Smith posted two goals and a pair of assists and Anna White provided an assist.
Maddie Russell made seven saves in goal to pick up her sixth shutout of the season.
