Madisonvlle-North Hopkins won its third consecutive region title Monday and fourth in the last five years.
Madisonville-North Hopkins put three golfers at the top of the scoresheet and won its third straight girls’ Region 2 Golf Tournament Monday.
Kaitlyn Zieba shot a 2-over par 75 to win the individual title at the Madisonville Country Club, which is celebrating its 100th year in 2021.
Zieba overcame a bogey on the second hole to birdie No. 5 and finish the front nine with seven pars and an even-par 36.
The Murray State commit had seven more pars on the back nine and a pair of bogeys to come in with a 39.
Kat Weir carded a 5-over-par 78 to finish three shots behind Zieba for second place. She had back-to-back birdies on No. 7 and No. 8 and a par on No. 9 to go out with 38. Her lone birdie on the back nine came on the par-3 14th hole.
Karra Tucker finished one shot in back of Wier with a 79 for third place. She had one birdie on the front nine in shooting a 40 and came in with a 39 thanks to birdies on No. 11 and No. 15.
Stella Knight shot a 15-over-par 88 that included a 43 on the back nine. Her par on No. 7 started a run of six straight pars.
Sydney Browning shot a 92 that included a 42 on the back nine with a birdie.
As a team, Madisonville’s score of 320 was 52 shots ahead of runner-up Daviess County and qualifies the Lady Maroons for next week’s state golf tournament in Bowling Green.
