Landon Hunt went out and shot an 80 at the Region 2 Golf Tournament Tuesday at the Henderson Country Club. And that score stood up until the final group finished their round.
As a result, the Christian County eighth-grader finished third in the region and qualified for next week’s KHSAA State Golf Tournament in Bowling Green.
Madisonville’s Jackson Hill won the region title with a 77, and Daviess County’s Grant Broughton was second with a round of 79.
Hunt shot a 39 on the front nine that included six pars and three bogeys. Four more pars on the back nine saw him come in with a 41. His third-place finish at the region is the best for a Colonel golfer since John Buchanan’s runner-up finish in 2017.
Houston George shot a 94 for the Colonels followed by Talan Ezell’s 129 and Drew Fincham’s 133.
