After starting the season 0-7-2, the Todd County Central Rebels appear to be getting things on track at just the right time. The Rebels won for the 4th time in the last five matches as they rolled to a 6-1 Senior Night win over the Logan County Cougars. The win was the Rebels’ second over the Cougars in the last two weeks.

The Rebels’ only senior Angel Villanueva got things rolling early for Todd Central. He scored 5 minutes in on an assist from Tanner Henderson to put the Rebels up 1-0. Five minutes later, Villanueva found the net again, this time on a header off a cross from Chris Salazar to make the lead 2-0.

Logan County would score before the half to cut the lead down to 2-1 and that was how the two teams would head into the break.

The Rebels then came out and settled the issue in the second half. Chris Salazar hit Angel Villanueva again to push the lead out to 3-1. Zack Robinson hit Ivan Lopez with a through ball to his feet and Lopez buried the finish far post to extend the lead to 4-1.

With 20 minutes left Angel Villanueva took a cross from Tanner Henderson and finished with his fourth goal of the night to make it 5-1. The Rebels’ Trey Osborne sent in a ball from deep that deflected off of Sam Padgett’s chest and right down to Cole Gilbert’s feet inside the 6-yard box, with Gilbert then finishing the shot to close out the scoring in the 6-1 win.

In celebration of Senior Night, Angel Villanueva was presented with a jersey and a signed game ball for his last home game as a Rebel.

Todd Central now moves to 4-8-2 with the win. The Rebels will hit the road Thursday to take on Christian County.
