Emma Perry’s first goal of the season was the only one University Heights needed as the Lady Blazers held on for a 1-0 win over Christian County Thursday.

The teams will meet again Tuesday in the 8th District semifinals with a berth in the region tournament on the line.

Perry scored six minutes into the contest to put the Lady Blazers up 1-0.  Both defenses locked down from there on out.  Christian County outshot UHA 11-7, including 7-2 in the second half.  The Lady Colonels saw two shots hit off the crossbar in the contest.

It was the eighth time in 12 games that UHA’s defense allowed two or fewer goals. However, it also marked the sixth time in seven games the Lady Blazers failed to score more than three goals.

UHA will take a 6-5-1 record into next week’s district tournament.

Christian County saw a three-game winning streak snapped and stands at 4-8-1. Thursday was the first time the Lady Colonels were shut out this season.

Christian County will look to snap a 15-match losing streak to UHA when the teams meet in the district semifinals Tuesday at the Stadium of Champions. County’s last win over UHA came in the 2012 district tournament.
