Tilghman Blows Past Trigg County 49-18

Trigg County was bringing the momentum of a 4-2 record into Friday night’s district game with Paducah Tilghman. The Blue Tornado had dropped four of their last five games including a shut out loss last week to Henderson County.

The Wildcats thought they had Tilghman backed into a corner entering tonight’s contest. The Blue Tornado had other ideas.

Jack James threw for 193 yards and five touchdowns in the first half as Paducah Tilghman ran away with a 49-18 win over the Wildcats Friday at Purdue field. Tilghman moved to 13-0 all-time against Trigg County with the win.

Tilghman scored on its opening drive when Malachi Rider ran it in from 40 yards out. Tilghman would add two more touchdowns in the quarter on a 13-yard pass from James to Cam Marshall and a 20-yard pass to LeBran McMullen.

Trigg‘s only score of the first half came on an 11-yard pass from Jacob Wease to Dakota Lockard. Trigg failed to convert after all three of its touchdowns.

The first quarter was marred by over 100 yards in combined penalties by the teams and more than one skirmish.

Tilghman added three more touchdowns in the second quarter on a 6-yard pass to Semari Thomas, a 37-yard pass to McMullen, and a 35-yard pass to Brian Thomas.

Tilghman’s lone score of the second half came on a 49-yard run by DiAvian Bradley in the third quarter.

Trigg County scored inside the final minute of the third quarter on a 36-yard pass from Wease to Jerimyah Shearer. Lockard closed out the scoring on a 23-yard reception on the game’s final play. Lockard hauled in five passes for 46 yards.

Wease was 15 of 28 passing for 203 yards. Trigg County could manage just 28 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Rider led the Tilghman ground game with eight carries for 80 yards. 11 different Tilghman running backs combine to run 27 times for 180 yards. Tilghman outgained Trigg 381 yards to 231.

Tilghman moves to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the district. They play Henry County, Tenn. next week.

Trigg County drops to 4-3. They are 0-1 in the district and will host Crittenden County next week.
