With the volleyball postseason looming on the horizon, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels traveled to Paducah this weekend to take part in the Quad State Tournament. The Lady Rebels would finish the weekend 2-4 going up against some top-flight competition.
Things got off to a bit of a tough start Friday evening for the Lady Rebels. Todd Central opened play against Paducah Tilghman. The Lady Rebels battled through the opening set, but ended up falling 25-20. The second set was all Paducah Tilghman as the Lady Blue Tornado completed the sweep with a 25-13 win.
Up next for the Lady Rebels was Briarcrest Christian, from Eads, Tennessee. The Saints quickly took control of the match, winning the first set 25-14. Briarcrest then closed out the match with a 25-8 win in the second set.
Todd Central got back to action in the Quad State Tournament Saturday morning taking on Christian Fellowship in the final match of pool play. The first two sets were back and forth battles. Todd Central won the opening set 25-22, while the Lady Eagles took the second set by an identical 25-22 score. The Lady Rebels rebounded after dropping the second set by winning the third set 15-10 to take the match two sets to one. In a season note, the win was the first for the Lady Rebels that was not a sweep during the 2021 season.
The Lady Rebels then began bracket play in the event. The first match in bracket play found the Lady Rebels taking on Clarksville High School. The first set was a tight contest with Todd County Central pulling out a 25-23 win to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The second set was more of the same with the two teams battling til the end. Todd Central took the set 25-20 to complete a two-set sweep.
Up next for the Lady Rebels was a matchup against Marshall County in the copper bracket semifinals. The two teams met back on September 3 at the wReck at the Plex, with the Lady Marshals taking a three-set win. The first set Saturday came down to the wire with Marshall County taking the win 25-22. The Lady Marshals then got on a roll in the second set and completed the sweep with a 25-12 win.
Todd Central then closed out their appearance in the Quad State Tournament by taking on Community Christian. CCA won a tightly contested first set 25-23. The second set was another tight one, with CCA eventually taking the win 25-21 to close out the match.
The Lady Rebels are set to return to action in two weeks at the Toyota of Hopkinsville Western Kentucky Smack Down.
