Trigg County’s Isaac Peca is a ‘jack of all trades’ both on the baseball diamond and outside of sports.
He’s one of the few Wildcat baseball players to play all nine positions in a single season. At the plate, he batted .267 with 13 runs knocked in. On the mound, he struck out 57 batters in 40 innings with a 3.15 ERA.
Peca moved to Trigg County from Pennsylvania two years ago. He brought with him a love of music and a positive work ethic. He plays tenor on the drumline for the Trigg County High Marching Band.
At his school in Pennsylvania, students were introduced to music in the fourth grade. When he admittedly couldn’t play an instrument, he gave the drums a try. An electric drum set for Christmas soon followed.
“I grew up listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, and Def Leppard and learned to play their music,” Peca said.
While in middle school, Peca began taking Spanish classes. When he moved to Kentucky, he had a three-year head start on the Spanish classes taught here. As a member of the Spanish Club, he tutors freshmen.
Peca also works on the yearbook production committee as a senior.
After high school, Peca is considering a career in personal finance. He is taking dual credit classes because he says “I’m good at math.” He may also consider sports management.
Right now, Peca is part of the marching band that is winning awards in Class 2A competitions. In the spring, he will be a senior leader for the baseball team as they look to regain the district title.
And somewhere in between, he’ll fill his days with music, studies, and just being a good citizen.
