Not only will Kentucky junior Emma King be giving out 200 Big Blue Madness tickets Sunday afternoon in Stanford, but UK teammates Rhyne Howard and Blair Green will be in downtown Pineville in Bell County on the courthouse square at 3 p.m. to give away more Madness tickets.
Tickets are free but limited to one per person at each spot and will be first-come, first-serve.
King expects to have 200 tickets in Stanford while Green and Howard will have between 100 and 200 tickets to give out to the annual preseason basketball extravaganza in Pineville.
Green told me a few weeks ago she was hoping to get Howard, her roommate, and teammate for the last three years, to her home in eastern Kentucky soon and now she has that chance Sunday.
Big Blue Madness tickets were distributed online only this year and were gone in less than an hour. Kentucky wanted an “opportunity to connect with different parts of the state and make an impact where we can,” according to UK spokesperson Eric Lindsey.
It’s a great idea to let folks in places like Stanford and Pineville who maybe didn’t have a chance to get online tickets have a way to get into Big Blue Madness at Rupp Arena.
