5-11-hampton-day-2

After a slow day on the lake Friday, Trigg County’s Jordan Hampton and Emily Huntsman made a huge jump in Saturday’s final round of the KHSAA State Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Barkley. The duo leaped 55 spots to 22nd overall after a Saturday catch of 13-pounds, 6-ounces, which was the sixth best bag of the second round.

They pulled down a two-day total of 18-pounds, 8-ounces, including a big bass Saturday of 4-pounds, 10-ounces. Hampton and Huntsman caught the five-fish limit both days, but Friday’s total was just 5-pounds, 2-ounces and left them in 77th place out of 88 boats after day one.

The South Laurel team of Shawn Coots and Trent Keltner won the state title with 32-pounds, 13-ounces – just over a pound more than second place Jackson Kulijof and Lane Tooley of Muhlenberg County.
