Trigg County sophomore Hunter Reynolds put together a pair of rounds in the 30s to win the first stop on the GO Junior Golf Series Monday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
Reynolds shot a 77 to win the 13-15 age group by 12 shots over Hopkinsville’s Evan Pyle and Christian County’s Micah Smith. Reynolds is expecting a breakout season after advancing to the second day of the KHSAA State Golf Tournament last fall.
Hopkinsville’s Will Binkley finished in sixth place with a round of 96, while Trigg County’s Ty Butts was seventh with a score of 99.
Meanwhile, University Heights Academy’s Jiles Wyatt finished second in the 16-18 age group by shooting an 81, which was one shot behind Hopkins County Central senior Trae Barber for first place.
Elijah Forbes of Russellville was fourth with a round of 83. Hopkinsville’s James Folz was seventh (86) as six strokes separated the top seven golfers in the round. Christian County’s Chase Dawson was ninth with a 106.
In the 9-10 division that covered six holes, Hopkinsville’s Matthew Flynn shot a 27 to finish in first place. Max Falco shot a 40 to come in third place.
In the nine-hole 13-15 division, Pate Griffey (50) finished third, and Joey Falco (51) was fourth.
