Both the Trigg County and Livingston Central volleyball teams went into Thursday night’s meeting at Wildcat Gym looking for a first win of the season, with the Lady Wildcats at 0-3 and the Lady Cardinals at 0-5. Trigg started brightly, but Livingston took over after the first set on the way to a 3-1 victory. The Lady Cardinals also move to 1-0 in 5th-District play.
The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a big lead in the opening set, before Livingston closed to within a point at 18-17. Trigg outscored the Lady Cardinals 7-2 the rest of the way to take the set.
It was Livingston that built an early lead in the second, forcing a Trigg timeout leading 16-7. The Lady Wildcats couldn’t rally after the stoppage and fell 9-25.
The final two sets played out in a similar fashion, with the Lady Cardinals taking quick leads and keeping Trigg at bay for 25-17 and 25-14 victories.
The Lady Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday when the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons come to Cadiz.
